The Special Events Coordinator, Parking is responsible for planning and effectively managing parking resources during events by ensuring event participants, event planners, and patron???s within the Duke community parking needs are met.
The Parking Special Events Coordinator works jointly with event planners and various Duke agencies to provide support services insuring all aspects of events management are accounted for.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues at varying administrative levels, and across departmental boundaries.
Provide reputable service to planners which creates confidence.
Create coordinated special events parking programs. Establish and meet specific program and project objectives; identify and ensure adequate and appropriate resources are used to achieve departmental/university/ and campus goals.
Make firm decisions and use sound judgment planning and during events. Work autonomously with limited direct supervision.
Minimize event impacts on campus community. Alert the community when events negatively impact parking. Provide information to be incorporated on the web, via email, in published articles, in flyers, etc.
Conduct training sessions with staff to ensure proper use of equipment, understanding of event specifics and tasks required. Prepare post orders and conduct briefings prior to and following each event.
Develop and implement procedures, standards, and guidelines for event personnel to ensure departmental and customers' needs are met. Maintain adequate inventory of materials including signs, cones, barricades, etc.
Negotiate rates for contracted work; schedule contractors; approve invoices, etc.
