Penn State Transportation Services is seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual to serve as the Assistant Event Parking Supervisor. This position reports directly to the Event Parking Coordinator and is primarily responsible for supervising staff and the set up and tear down of signs and equipment for more than 120 events each year, including sporting events, concerts, Center for Performing Arts shows, community events, etc. The Assistant Event Parking Supervisor must be able to work and interact with a wide variety of customers in a calm and professional manner while maintaining a customer focused environment. Will be responsible for training new staff, conducting pre-event briefings, and will work closely with University Police & Public Safety to coordinate effective and efficient traffic movement. Will be responsible for addressing customer complaints and other issues that arise and will lead operations in the absence of the Event Parking Coordinator. Must be able to work outdoors in changing conditions and be able to lift and load cones and signs weighing up to 50 pounds into a vehicle. Responsible for maintaining equipment and inventories and will be trained in basic troubleshooting of gate and PARCS equipment used in campus parking decks. Will assist with answering phone calls, record keeping, and other administrative and office tasks. Will assist the Transportation Services Office and the Parking Operations Supervisor with other tasks as needed. Work Schedule will vary with events, but will primarily be Wednesday through Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will possess superior customer service skills, including conflict resolution, relationship building, independent decision making, and the ability to effectively communicate the Penn State (University Park) Parking rules and regulations. Experience in cash handling operations and logistics preferred. Requires strong supervisory and communication skills, and should be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
